Useful Browser Add-ons and Utilities
Sometimes it's not enough just to use your detective skills to solve strange CSS problems.
Luckily, there are a few browser extensions and tools out there that can help in your search for
the root of a CSS problem.
Web Developer Extension (Firefox)
The big papa of them all (if you develop using Firefox) is Chris Pederick's Web Developer Extension
( www.chrispederick.com/work/webdeveloper ). The extension adds a toolbar of goodies that fits
in nicely with the browser's UI (Figure 14-1), and hidden within its menus are a bevy of beautiful
functions to help make your day more pleasant, including the ability to disable CSS, replace
images with the contents of their alt attribute, show detailed information about elements on
the page (Figure 14-2), and almost everything else you can think of. It's a perfect extension to
the best browser for web developers.
