species of grass. Dry zone is the most important vegetable oil production region,
which includes sesame and sunflower. Other important crops are rice, millet, cotton
and tobacco. The major cash crops grown in the Dry Zone are cotton, sesame, pulses
and beans. Seasonal vegetables such as onion, garlic, chillies, and tomatoes are also
grown on some alluvial soils on the banks along the Ayeyarwady river. All suitable
land is cultivated and there is hardly any scope for expansion. The farmers of this
