In-Depth Information
How It Works
There are many details that you may want to understand regarding the configuration of the
WINS server. However, there are also times when a simple summary will be sufficient; for these
cases, you can use the netsh wins server show info command.
If you require more detail than is provided by netsh wins server show info , you can append
values other than info to the command, such as the following:
Browser : Displays all active domain master browser records for the indicated WINS server
Database : Displays the database and records for specified owner servers
Name : Displays detailed information about a specified record in the WINS database
Partner : Displays all replication partners for the given WINS server and indicates the asso-
ciated replication type
Server : Displays the NetBIOS name and the IP address of the given WINS server
Statistics : Displays date statistics for WINS events, such as service start time and last
replication time
Version : Displays the maximum version counter value for the given WINS server
For a complete list and a description of each item, run netsh wins server show help or
netsh wins server show /? .

Open the WINS MMC snap-in.
2.
Right-click the server object in the left pane, and select Properties.
3.
Enable the Automatically Update Statistics Every check box.
4.
Enter the time interval at which you want to update the statistics.
5.

6.
Enable the Verify Database Consistency check box, and enter the interval in hours at
which you want this to occur.
7.
Set the start time for the initial verification by entering information in the Begin Verifying
