Click the Add Port button.

Select Standard TCP/IP Port.

Click the New Port button to start the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard.

Click the Next button.

Enter the IP address or the name of the printer. If you enter a valid IP address, the
wizard will automatically name the port using the format
IP_<
Address
>
, such as
IP_192.168.0.20
. You can also enter a more meaningful name if desired.

Click the Next button. The wizard will attempt to locate the printer that you specified.
If the printer is found, proceed to step 12.

If the device is not found, you will have the option of selecting the device type. You can
select from a drop-down list of preconfigured devices, such as HP JetDirect, and then
proceed to step 12. Alternatively, you can customize the type by selecting the Custom
option and clicking the Settings button.

If you selected the option to customize the device type in the preceding step, follow
these steps:
a.
Select the TCP protocol that you want to use. If you select RAW, provide the port
number. The default value is 9100, which appears in the Port field. If you select LPR,
provide a queue name and indicate whether you want to enable LPR byte counting.
b.
Select the option to enable Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), if desired,
providing a community name and a device index.
c.
Click OK.

Click the Next button, and then click Finish.
To configure an existing TCP/IP printer port, do the following:
1.
Open the Printers and Faxes administrative window.
2.
Select File
➤
Server Properties.
3.
Select the Ports tab.
4.
Select the port that you want to configure.
5.
Click the Configure Port button.
6.
Configure the desired options, as described in step 11 in the preceding instructions.
Using the Registry
You can create a TCP/IP printer port by creating a new Registry subkey. Create a subkey with
the desired name of your printer port. Create the subkey at the following key:
