6-5. Customizing Event Logging for IAS
Problem
You want to customize how events are logged by IAS.
Solution
Using Local File Logging
To configure IAS to use local file logging, do the following:
1.
Open the IAS MMC snap-in.
2.
Select the Remote Access Logging node.
3.
Double-click Local File.
4.
On the Settings tab, under Log the Following Information, place a check mark next to
one or more of the following:
￿ Accounting Requests (for example, accounting start or stop)
￿ Authentication Requests (for example, access accept or access reject)
￿ Periodic Status (for example, interim accounting requests)
5.
On the Log File tab, enter the name of the directory where log files will be stored in the
Directory Name text box, or click Browse to locate the directory.
6.
Under the Format section, select either the IAS or Database-Compatible radio button.
7.
Under the Create a New Log File section, specify how frequently IAS should create a
new log file. Choose one of the following options:
￿Daily
￿Weekly
￿Monthly
￿ Never (unlimited file size)
￿ When the Log File Reaches This Size (and enter the maximum log size in megabytes)
8.
Optionally, place a check mark next to When Disk Is Full Delete Older Log Files.
9.
Click OK to save your settings.

To configure IAS to log information to a SQL Server database, do the following:
