Solution
1.
Start the Routing and Remote Access Services administrative console from the
Administrative Tools folder in the Start menu, or directly from
%systemroot%\system32\
rrasmgmt.msc
.

If your server is not already listed in the console, add it by right-clicking Routing and
Remote Access in the left pane and selecting Add Server. Select the first option, This
Computer.

If you are enabling RRAS on a remote server, you can add those servers to this console by selecting
The Following Computer, All Routing and Remote Access Servers, or Browse Active Directory rather than This
Computer.

Right-click on the server name in the left pane, and select Configure and Enable Routing
and Remote Access.

Click the Next button when the Routing and Remote Access Server Setup Wizard starts.

Select the Network Address Translation option. Click the Next button to proceed.

You can now select whether to use an existing interface or to create a demand-dial
interface to connect to the Internet. Configure the following options as appropriate for
your network, and click the Next button to proceed:
• If you have a server with two or more network cards, and one is attached to the untrusted
network (typically the Internet), select Use This Public Interface to Connect to the
Internet. Also select the particular network card that is configured with the public
address.
If you do not have a network interface attached to the untrusted network, as described
in the previous step, but you do have a modem or a Point-to-Point Protocol Over
Ethernet (PPPoE) connection, select Create a New Demand-Dial Interface to the Internet.
Select the check box if you want to enable a basic firewall on the public interface.
7.
Select the interface for the network segment (typically the LAN) that needs access to the
Internet. Click the Next button to proceed.
8.
Click the Finish button when complete.

Note
If you selected the option to create a new demand-dial interface to connect to the Internet in step 6,
the Demand-Dial Interface Wizard will automatically start. Proceed to Recipe 5-3, “Enabling and Configuring
a Demand-Dial Interface,” for the steps relating to this configuration.
