Solution
Creating a remote access policy involves using the New Remote Access Policy Wizard to create
a typical policy (for a common scenario) or a custom policy for your specific environment.
Both will be explained.
Note There is no convenient or practical way to create policies through a command-line interface
or VBScript.
To start the New Remote Access Policy Wizard, follow these steps:
1.
Start the Routing and Remote Access Services administrative console
from the Administrative Tools folder in the Start menu, or directly from
%systemroot%\system32\rrasmgmt.msc .
2.
Expand the server tree in the left pane.
3.
Right-click the Remote Access Policies node, and select New Remote Access Policy.
4.
Click the Next button to start the New Remote Access Policy Wizard.
At this point in the wizard, you will be prompted to either create a typical policy for a
common scenario or to create a custom policy.
To create a typical policy for a common scenario, follow these steps:
1.
Select the option to Use the Wizard to Set Up a Typical Policy for a Common Scenario,
and provide a convenient name for the policy in the field below. Then click the Next
button.
2.
Select the method that your clients will use to connect to the network, and then click
the Next button. These are the options:
￿ VPN: This policy will apply to all VPN types. (To configure a policy for specific VPN
protocols or parameters, create a custom policy as discussed later in this section.)
￿ Dial-up: Use this policy for dial-up modems or ISDN lines.
￿ Wireless: Use this policy for remote wireless connections.
￿ Ethernet: Use this policy for standard Ethernet connections.
3.
Select the option to specify that policy permissions are defined in the user account set-
tings or to specify particular groups to which you want this policy to apply. Click the
Next button when complete.
