Solution
Using a Graphical User Interface
1.
Start the Routing and Remote Access Services administrative console from the Admin-
istrative Tools folder in the Start menu, or directly from %systemroot%\system32\
rrasmgmt.msc .
2.
Right-click the name of the RRAS server that you want to manage in the left pane, and
select Properties.
3.
Select the IP tab.
4.
Select the Enable IP Routing check box to allow remote access clients to access resources
beyond the remote access server. This is enabled by default.
5.
Select the Allow IP-Based Remote Access and Demand-Dial Connections check box to
specify that the Internet Protocol Control Protocol (IPCP) is negotiated for PPP connec-
tions. This is enabled by default.
6.
Select the radio button corresponding to the method of IP address allocation that you
desire. The default selection is to use DHCP, but you may also select a static address pool.
7.
If you chose to use a static address pool in step 6, do the following:
a.
Click the Add button.
b.
Enter the starting and ending addresses of the desired range. Note that the total
number of addresses will be automatically calculated. Alternatively, you can enter
the starting address and the total number of addresses that you want; the ending
address will instead be calculated for you.
c.
Click the OK button to complete the IP address range entry.
d.
Repeat steps a through c for any additional ranges that you want to add.
8.
Select the Enable Broadcast Name Resolution check box if you want remote access
clients to be able to resolve NetBIOS names on a single-subnet LAN without the benefit
of a WINS or DNS server.
9.
Select the network adapter over which you want your RRAS server to provide IP addresses,
WINS and DNS server addresses to your clients. By default, the setting is configured to
allow the server to select the adapter.
10.
Click OK when complete.
Using a Command-Line Interface
You can display your RRAS server's IP settings at any time by running the following command:
