The table contains all the keys to the dimensions that are tied to the Fact Sales
Quota measure group as well as information about the user and the time that the
data was written to the table. The rows will be on the granularity of the dimensions.
This means that in this case you will have a value written for every single day, even
though you filled in the value on the year level.
Tip
It is usually a good practice to specify a different granularity on the write-back
measure group. The reason for this is that you typically do not budget on the
same level as you record your sales. You typically budget on the month level but
you report sales on the day level. Another reason is that the allocation is a heavy
operation, and you do not want to touch every cell within when doing write-back.
When the value was written to Analysis Services, it was allocated out on the individu-
al rows. The allocation can be controlled by specifying a weight expression in Excel:
