To illustrate the output from the programme LOVE.FOR, we show the first 24
internal load Love numbers for Earth model Cal8, with azimuthal number m =
1.
The results are given in Table 7.1 for a period of 4 hours. Except for the inner
core Love number of degree one, the internal load Love numbers are only weakly
dependent on period (Smylie and Jiang, 1993, p. 1355).
Single e
ective load Love numbers for the inner core and the shell, along with
their equivalent rigid boundary radii, under the subseismic approximation, are
shown in Table 7.2. Again, they are shown for a period of 4 hours, azimuthal num-
ber m
ff
1, and Earth model Cal8.
As mentioned, the internal load Love numbers are only weakly dependent on
period, except for the degree-one number reflecting the translation of the inner
core, as expressed by the quadratic dependence of the reciprocal of the e
