Trackside energy storage has benefits of minimum capital expenditure, lower
operating costs, higher operating efficiency and less environmental impact due to
reduced transient loading on the catenary power supply.
For light rail the regenerative braking feature provided by ultra-capacitor
RESS gives significant cost savings, improved network reliability via third rail or
