13.11 Summary
This chapter has covered a lot of ground and admittedly none of it as deeply as a data-
base designer really needs to know. Even so the major concepts in CPU, multiproces-
sors, storage (SAN, NAS, RAID), high availability, and memory management have
been touched with enough depth to provide you with the tools to walk the walk and
talk the talk of database design at the machine layer.
