RAID 1E.
code is an error correction code (ECC). The ECC is recalculated each time data is mod-
ified. The ECC is usually stored in dedicated disks within the array. At read time the
ECCs are read and matched to enforce that no data corruption has occurred during the
read-write processing. In fact, because of the poor concurrency qualities, RAID 2 is vir-
tually not used in practice.
