In-Depth Information
3. In the
Effect Controls
panel, we want to set the
Input White
value for our
Levels
effect to
0.94
and then alter the
Gamma
value to read
0.05
(these
settings will force the blur to appear quite close to the camera).
Our final edit for the
ZDepth_Control
pre-comp is to come back into the main com-
position and then click on the
ZDepth_Control
pre-comp eyeball icon to turn the
layer's visibility off.
To get our pseudo DOF effect working, we need to perform the following steps:
1. Select our
Reflections Adjustment
pre-comp, and from the
Layer
menu at
the top of the After Effects UI, choose the
New
option and then
Adjustment
Layer
from the flyout.
2. Let's give this a clear descriptive name by right-clicking on the adjustment
layer in the stack and then choosing the rename option from the pop-up
menu.
3. Let's name it
Adj Layer - Camera lens Blur
.
4. We can now type
Camera
over in the
Effects & Presets
panel and add the
Camera Lens Blur
effect to the adjustment layer.
5. In the control options, set the Blur Radius to 2.5, leave the Shape option set
to Hexagon, and in the Layer dropdown, set it to use the
ZDepth_Control
pre-comp.
