Importing our footage
Let's go ahead now and import our footage into After Effects so that we can start work
on it in earnest. To do that, we can perform the following steps:
1. Go to the File menu, and from the Import flyout, choose the File option.
2. In the Import File dialog box that appears, we can either browse to our down-
loaded Chapter_09 folder under Exercise_Files | Final_Renders and
import the provided images from there or, alternatively, locate our own
rendered versions if we have produced them.
The files we want to pull into After Effects (assuming we have followed the naming
steps outlined in the previous chapter) will be as follows:
Materials_Final.exr
Materials_Final.Reflection.exr
Materials_Final.RenderID.exr
Materials_Final.Sample_Rate.exr
Materials_Final.ZDepth.exr
Once imported, we can take a look at the finished RGB channel that came out of V-
Ray by double-clicking on the Materials_Final.exr file, which will open up the
image in a new Footage view window for us. Now, you may well be wondering at this
point why we are seeing a gamma-corrected image as opposed to the much darker
linear version that we rendered out of V-Ray.
