1.333:1 (4:3) : This aspect ratio was used commonly in the past for broadcast
and video but is now more readily associated with still image photography
and print. Common resolutions include 768 x 576, 1024 x 768, and 1600 x
1200. At the time of writing, the current generations of Apple iPad screens
use a 4:3 ratio.
1.500:1 (3:2) : This is the aspect ratio of a 35mm film and is also a typical
ratio used in photographic printing, a resolution such as 6 x 4 inches (or 10 x
15cm) being a fairly typical or common print size.
1.777:1 (16:9) : This is the current standard for High-Definition (HD) video
playback and broadcast TV. Common resolutions include 1280 x 720 (720p)
and 1920 x 1080 (1080p).
1.85:1 and 2.35:1 : These are two typical widescreen ratios used in the pro-
duction and presentation of big screen movies. Typical resolutions include
1828 x 988 and 3656 x 1976 for the 1.85:1 ratio and 2048 x 872 and 4096 x
1744 for 2.35:1.

The important thing that we need to note here is that the aspect ratio we set for our
final renders will naturally have a massive impact on the composition and staging
that we set up in our render views, hence the need to discuss the subject here first.
