• Transmission or transparency takes energy away from a material's diffuse
coloration, and so at 100 percent transparency, a material can have no dif-
fuse color coming from its surface at all.
• Reflectivity can take energy away from both the diffuse and transparent com-
ponents, and so if a material has 100 percent specular reflectivity, then there
typically should be neither diffuse color nor transparency present.
