The final layer type that can be added to the Standard material would be Refraction .
This allows us to create a wide range of Transmissive materials such as glass and
water.

The same set of options found in the VRayBRDF layer can also be added at
the material level by using the aptly named V-Ray Material. I say aptly because
the controls found in both the VRayBRDF layer and in the V-Ray Material are
identical to one another and almost identical to the V-Ray Material found in both
3ds Max and Maya. This uniformity across applications makes it much easi-
er for users coming from those packages and dive into material creation with
SketchUp.
There are, however, two potential problems worth noting when we use the V-Ray
Material in SketchUp as opposed to adding a VRayBRDF layer to the Stand-
ard material. The first is that the V-Ray Material has no current connection to
SketchUp's UV scale system, and so it is unable to effectively make use of bit-
maps in its controls. The second problem, which is a consequence of the first, is
