Filter
If you look back at Figure 6-2 , you notice that there is still the challenge
of the giant component with too many edges to be clearly distinguishable.
Filtering is a fundamental operation in all data visualization—a way to
easily remove some of the data that is currently not of interest so that you
can focus on what remains. Filtering doesn't actually delete the data. It just
visibly hides the data, and usually you can make all the data visible again
by simply adjusting the filter values, turning off the filters, or deleting the
filters.
Filtersareparticularly important forexploratoryanalysis.Byadjustingfilter
settings, you can quickly isolate and segment the graph by various data
attributes and statistical properties. Sometimes these adjustments are
