So, given the applications and benefits alluded to above, the comparison of GIS with the elephant in
Chapter 1 is not that farfetched. It is to be hoped that decision makers are not as blind as the six who
were investigating the elephant. And that the readers of this textbook will attempt to broaden the use of
GIS for the betterment of society.
