Figure 9.3 The 64 counties are each drawn twelve times, shaded by the deviation
from the expected rate of unemployment, given the time and the place, on the
equal population cartogram using an isometric perspective. Here the pattern for
London can be made out, but many other places are obscured. It turns out that
crude perspective pictures are an ineffective way of showing a changing situation.
Note: the two images shown here are were captured as dumps from a very low
resolution computer monitor (illustrating the resolution at which all the images
in this topic were originally viewed at).
