Figure 8.3 Full-time jobs increased in banking and finance, for part-time it was
'personal services', which included jobs like hair-dressing. These increases in
work in a few areas were dwarfed by the loss of jobs in other sectors of industry in
the early 1980s, most notably from within the manufacturing and mining sectors,
usually of the work of male employees and usually of their full-time work.
