The major summit of 300 000 voters was, by 1985, to be found in Conservative
territory towards the Liberal border. A second minor peak of 180 000 can be seen
here to have formed in the Labour territory as the vote moved away from the
Conservative/Labour contests to include the Alliance in the political equation.
