Figure 5.16 The shading in the previous figure is used here to show which seats
changed hands between ten general elections from 1955 onwards. Following the
1979 redistribution of seats, white outer rings are used to show new constituencies.
The changes are often un-patterned, but interesting clusters and other features can
be seen, especially in all the Conservative Party gains in 1983.
