Figure 5.11 The average inflation has now risen to about 20 %, often much
higher southeast of a line from the Wash to the Severn estuary, where the picture
has now become even lighter than before. In the London area annual inflation can
be up to 50 %, although even there in some wards prices fell. Elsewhere a dark
ring has spread around Glasgow, while central Liverpool and Bristol are also not
faring well.
