Figure 5.1 The most distinctive feature of this image is of the relative increase
of the Welsh in the Valleys. South Wales had the lowest emigration rates and so
appears to have increased its Welsh population. The whiter rings around London,
Birmingham and inside Leicester are where the overseas born population has
increased. Parts of Glasgow became even more Scottish.
