Figure 4.3 Enumeration districts are coloured white if there were unusually high
numbers of working age people below retirement age in them and also few young
or old folk. There were a few such areas in 1981 and were mainly found in London.
There were also a few areas with both more old and more young people. Younger
families lived away from the coasts and from some parts of London.
