Figure 3.11 The area of the hexagons is in proportion to the resident population
of 10 444 1981 census wards. Birmingham has the largest wards and the smallest
are within the City of London, creating patterns. In Scotland the hexagons are
part-post-code sectors. Some contain few people, particularly in central Glasgow
and Edinburgh where there were many businesses, but few people slept.
