can reflect the temporal spatial structure of society and within which each of our
lives is a path.
This topic ends by suggesting that it is possible to produce a fixed three-
dimensional image of an evolving, finely organised society. This would be a
volume relating the times through which people live their lives to the places in
which they live them. For now, creating the two-dimensional spaces to reflect
simple two-dimensional instances of a complex structure is enough of a challenge,
and the focus of the next chapter, but it is worth having an idea of where we are
trying to get to if you want to appreciate why each step is being taken.
