quiet backstreet between Hampstead village and the
Heath, this is an unconventional guesthouse in a large
Victorian home. Rooms (most en suite) are full of character,
crammed with books, pictures and handmade and antique
furniture - one has a freestanding antique steel bathtub.
This is very much a family home, with all the warmth and
charm that implies. Breakfast costs £9. The little garage
apartment, sleeping five and sta rting at £115 for one
person (£200 for five), is a bargain. £95

above a gastropub, just a few minutes' walk from the north

Unfussy, friendly B&B on a nice street close to Portobello

tired, but they're clean and comfy, and there's a lift. The

have tea/coffee brought to your room; a couple of good
local cafés offer special l prices for guests. Free wi-fi. Three-
