Formation of hierarchical nano-assemblies for combinatorial delivery of
siRNA and anticancer drugs. 16
siRNA resulted in more significant gene suppression at both the BCL-2
mRNA and protein expression levels, inducing cancer cell apoptosis and
improving the therapeutic efficacy of the co-administered DOX.
9.3 Complex Micelles with Surface Channels for Drug
Delivery
This kind of complex micelle refers to those that have a hydrophobically
associated or electrostatically crosslinked core surrounded by two kinds of
soluble polymer chains. Phase separation in the mixed shell can result in
channels on the micelles' surface, which can be applied in controlled drug
release. This section will cover the recent development of complex micelles with
surface channels (CMSCs) in drug delivery.
