Java Reference
In-Depth Information
[ 23 ] Those who want details of the way generics were added should see the original design documents,
such as Adding
Generics
to
the
Java
Programming
Language by Gilad Bracha, et al. ( ht-
tp://www.cs.purdue.edu/homes/hosking/352/generics.pdf ).
[ 24 ] If you really want to get a grasp on how to use generics, you will need to read the generics chapter
in Josh Bloch's Effective Java (Prentice Hall)… a couple of times.
[ 25 ] What follows is another reflection of my early life as a philosopher, where I received a Ph.D. in the
philosophy of language. Those who, like my wife, think that such study simply caused me to be interes-
ted in the uninteresting and the unintelligible should feel free to skip the next couple of paragraphs and
start again with “we will capture this….”
[ 26 ] If you skipped the last paragraph, you should skip this one, too. Start again at the next one.
[ 27 ] “Weenie,” in this sense, is a technical term and should not be taken to convey a value judgment.
