The device is reporting information on the direction. A more useful way to look at this
data is provided by Adafruit at

At the bottom of this page is a listing that will show the actual direction
when the device is held flat. Unfortunately, you'll need to make just a couple of changes
because of the updates to the drivers. The following is the new sketch:
