In-Depth Information
Note:
SP@ML does not support B-frames.
The 4:2:2 profile @ High level (422P@HL) is standardized by SMPTE and not by
MPEG.
The Main Profile at Main Level (MP@ML) is relevant for SDTV distribution and
DVD disks at bit rates between 2 Mbps and 6 Mbps.
The Main Profile at High Level (MP@HL) is relevant to HDTV distribution at 20
Mbps.
The other profiles are not relevant to TV but may be useful for other application
projects.
Profile/level combinations other than MP@ML and MP@HL are likely to be super-
seded very soon by the H.264 codec.
F.5
MPEG-1 Constrained-Parameters Bit Stream
This is sometimes tabulated with profiles as MPEG-1 (CPB). It represents an MPEG-1 con-
strained-parameters bit stream, which must also be supported by MPEG-2 decoders.
When it is also combined with level definitions, it describes a raster size of 768
×
576 at 30
Hz delivered at a bit rate of 1.856 Mbps.
