About This Appendix
This appendix is compiled from research done at several IBC and NAB conferences. The
information here is not exhaustive, of course and supplements the coverage in chapter 29.
A few companies whose products are particularly interesting are discussed in some detail.
They are arranged in alphabetical order so as not to imply any special preference.
There is no need for me to describe the more well-known companies:

The benefits of purchasing your networking and signal connectivity solutions from ADC
is that it offers products that will integrate well with one another. These days, a video sys-
tem is a combination of audio, telephony, video, and Ethernet. Added to this are fiberop-
tics and the media are connected together in both analogue and digital formats. This can
be difficult to manage coherently if you purchase supplies from different manufacturers.
You will still need to purchase your routing products from specialist manufacturers
but your structured cabling should be much easier to manage and more economic to
install if you can purchase in bulk from one place.

AJA Video Systems makes video cards that have some similarity to Blackmagic Design's
products. Blackmagic Design develops some drivers for the AJA video cards as well as
