In-Depth Information
1. Code the audio to produce the separate elementary streams necessary.
2. Packetize the video and audio elementary streams and multiplex them together to
form the program stream.
3. Further packetize the program streams available and multiplex them into a trans-
port stream.
4. Deliver to the broadcast head-end or streaming service and route them to the end
At the receiver, the streams are de-multiplexed and reassembled from the packets
before decoding individually.
The Next Challenge
So we now have a bit stream. Before we delve into the storage mechanisms for bit streams
let's just pause and look at live encoding. The next chapter will explore some of the issues
involved. It is a good place to break off and do this because the output of a live encoder is
a bit stream as well.
