5.
To identify how frequently a violation can be reported as over-utilized or under-
utilized, we can use Volatile Resource Policy Evaluation under the Policy tab:
6.
In this case, we choose the time to evaluate SQL Server Utility policies for every 1
hour and choose 20 percent of policies in violation during the time window.
7.
In this selection, for over one hour there will be four policy evaluations and at
least one must be in violation before the CPU is marked as over-utilized. This is a
best practice setting to ensure that a highly transactional SQL Server instance is
monitored for policy violation.
8.
Click the UCP node to view summary data for the managed instances of SQL Server
and data-tier applications (right-click to refresh). The Dashboard data is displayed in
the content pane for Managed Instances and Deployed Data-tier Applications.
This completes the steps to administer the resource health policies of managed instances and
data-tier applications.
How it works...
The Utility Control Point (UCP) is the main utility to administer any policy violations when the
instances and data-tier applications are registered to manage. The evaluation time-period and
tolerance for percent-violations are both configurable using the Policy table settings in UCP
administration node.
