Introduction
Business Intelligence (BI) is a method of storing and presenting key enterprise data. Effective
BI allows end users to use data to understand and provides the enterprise users with reliable,
timely information (reporting), and prediction analysis (trends) for improved decision-making.
Most of the BI related projects are complex, involving business processes and developers to
build a solution. These projects usually involve building a huge back-end data store, which is
referred to as dimensions, cubes, and data mining models. The other aspect of the BI solution
is to use appropriate user interfaces (UI), which must be configured or developed if necessary.
To prevent further complexities when implementing solutions using BI concepts, Microsoft
has placed new enhancements within the usability of services and tools for developers and
administrators in SQL Server 2008 R2.
