In-Depth Information
Lemon Tree Inn MOTEL
( 239-262-1414; www.lemontreeinn.com ; 250 9th St S; r $80-169; )
Value for money is high at the Lemon Tree, where 34 clean and brightly decorated rooms
(some with passable kitchenettes) form a U around pretty, private gardens. Screened
porches, free lemonade and Continental breakfasts are nice, but most of all, you'll treasure
being walking distance to the 5th Ave corridor.
Gondolier INN
( 239-262-4858; www.gondolierinnnaples.com ; 407 8th Ave S; r $80-180; )
This classic 1950s Googie-style bungalow with sharp angles, overhanging roof and kitsch
Gondolier signage is well located on a quiet street in Old Naples. Rooms are of a similar
vintage and have hand-hewn kitchens and period furniture. Better still, it's just a few
blocks' walk to the beach.
Cove Inn APARTMENTS
( 239-262-7161; www.coveinnnaples.com ; 900 Broad Ave S; r $90-250; )
The individually owned condo units of this marina hotel are something of a gamble: most
are surprisingly attractive, up-to-date, tile-floored, rattan-furnished rooms with peaceful
harbor views. A few await 21st-century face-lifts and feel as tired as the building's
bleached exterior. Request an updated unit to enjoy one of Naples' better-value accommod-
ations.
Escalante BOUTIQUE HOTEL
( 239-659-3466; www.hotelescalante.com ; 290 Fifth Ave S; r $175-455)
Hidden in plain sight at 5th Ave and Third St, the wonderful Escalante is a boutique hotel
crafted in the fashion of a Tuscan villa. Rooms and suites are nestled behind luxuriant fo-
liage and flowering pergolas, and feature plantation-style furniture, European linens and
Gilchrist & Soames bath products. A sustainable garden supplies the veranda restaurant,
and there's a full-service spa and golf cart service to the beach. It's very private and terribly
romantic.
