When taking in the sights, visitors can confine themselves to a walkable, T-shaped route:
along Central Ave, mainly from 8th St to Bayshore Dr, and along Bayshore Dr from the
DalĂ Museum to the bayfront parks in the Old Northeast neighborhood. From here the
pier
juts out to sea. While the pier itself is open to walkers, the iconic, inverted pyramid amuse-
ment complex at its end is closed for redevelopment.
Old Northeast
NEIGHBORHOOD
The Old Northeast, or Coffee Pot Bayou, begins around 9th Ave NE and goes to 30th Ave
NE; it extends inland from the bay to about 4th St. At about 10th Ave NE the
North
Shore Aquatic Complex

has three gorgeous swimming pools, including a kids' pool with
waterslide. Adjacent grassy public parks include the
Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum

palms, all signed and lovingly landscaped. There are also large parking lots here and a
long, white-sand
swimming beach
. Keep going along the paved trail, past pretty homes
and private docks, all the way to small
Coffee Pot Park
, where manatees can occasionally
be spotted.
Chihuly Collection

Dale Chihuly's glass works are displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York,
the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London and the Louvre in Paris. But his per-
manent collection resides here in St Petersburg in an understated wood-and-marble gallery
designed to off-set dramatic installations such as the
Ruby Red Icicle Chandelier
or the
multicolored
Persians
ceiling.
