TAMPA DISCOUNTS
Looking to save a few bucks on museum admissions? The best bet is the Destination
Tampa Bay Tour Desk ( 813-905-5202; 10am-4pm). It's at the cruise-ship terminal, dir-
ectly across from the aquarium. Discounted tickets for Busch Gardens, the aquarium,
MOSI, the History Center, IMAX movies and various cruises are available.
Sleeping
Interesting, independent lodgings aren't Tampa's strong suit. Business travelers tend to aim
for the high-end chains (such as Westin or Marriott) downtown, while travelers are best
situated in Ybor City. An abundance of midrange chains are also north of downtown, close
to Busch Gardens and the University of South Florida.

As charismatic as an aging rock star, Gram's is a tiny, welcoming hostel for international
travelers who prefer personality over perfect linens. Dig the in-ground hot tub and
Saturday night jams. Breakfast is not included, but there are two fully serviced kitchens.
Gram's Place is in Tampa Heights, 2 miles north of the Museum of Art.
