World; adult/child 3-10yr $90/84; 9am-6pm, hours vary; Disney, Disney) offers none of
the nostalgic charm of Magic Kingdom, the sophisticated delights of Epcot or the kitschy
fun of Animal Kingdom. It's meant to conjure the heydays of Hollywood, with a replica of
Graumann's Chinese Theatre and Hollywood Brown Derby, but most of the attractions
find their inspiration from unabashed 21st-century energy. Hannah Montana souvenirs line
store shelves, screams from the Tower of Terror echo through the park and American Idol
wannabes line up daily to strut their stuff.
The 122ft Sorcerer's Hat serves as the park's primary focal point. Make a right onto Sun-
set Blvd to hit the roller coasters, the Beauty and the Beast show and Fantasmic (a night-
time spectacular), and left toward New York for the movie-based attractions, primarily in
the form of shows.
You won't need a whole day here, but there are some Disney highlights - the best plan is
to come first thing in the morning, linger for lunch, and then take off to relax by the pool
or, if you have a Park Hopper ticket, catch a boat over to Epcot's World Showcase for the
afternoon.
