MY DISNEY EXPERIENCE: FASTPASS+ & MAGICBAND
FastPass+ is designed to allow guests to plan their days in advance and reduce time
spent waiting in line. It replaced the paper FastPass system in 2014. Visitors can reserve a
specific time for up to three attractions per day through My Disney Experience (
407-828-8739; www.disneyworld.disney.go.com ), accessible online or by downloading the free
mobile app.
Resort guests receive a MagicBand - a plastic wristband that serves as a room key,
park entrance ticket, FastPass+ access and room charge. As soon as you make your
room reservation, you can set up your My Disney Experience account and begin planning
your day-by-day Disney itinerary. A MagicBand will be sent to you in advance, or it will be
waiting for you when you check into your hotel. Your itinerary, including any changes you
make online or through the mobile app, will automatically be stored in your wristband.
Once at the park, head to your reserved FastPass+ ride or attraction anytime within the
preselected one-hour time frame. Go to the Fastpass+ entrance, scan your MagicBand,
and zip right onto the attraction with no more than a 15-minute wait. Though it's a simple
system, there are some kinks, so a few tips can help you navigate it smoothly with optimal
benefit.
If you are staying at a Disney Resort, you can access My Disney Experience and start re-
serving FastPass+ attractions up to 60 days in advance; nonresort guests with purchased
theme-park tickets can reserve FastPass+ attractions 30 days in advance.
You can use Fastpass+ selections for rides, character greeting spots (where lines can rival
the most popular rides), fireworks, parades and shows.
Some parks use a tiered FastPass+ system - you must choose one attraction from group
one, and two from group two.
Make reservations for meals and character dining through My Disney Experience.
Change your selections anytime through the website or mobile app. Once you've used the
three prebooked FastPass+ attractions, you can add additional FastPass+ at on-site
kiosks for free. But note you must use all threereserved selections before adding new
ones.
Do not waste your limited FastPass+ options on attractions that do not have long lines;
carefullly consider your day's plan to maximize the benefits of this system. Disney plan-
ning websites offer all kinds of tips. At Magic Kingdom, lines for Peter Pan's Flight, Big
Thunder Mountain Railroad, Enchanted Tales with Belle and Space Mountain can be pain-
