MEETING DISNEY CHARACTERS
Folks of all ages pay a lot of money and spend hours in line to get their photo taken with
Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Donald Duck and other Disney favorites. It doesn't make
much sense on paper, but somehow, once at Disney, even the most hard-hearted swoon.
Go to www.disneyworld.disney.go.com to peruse opportunities to sidle up next to a prin-
cess, villain or furry friend, and note that character experiences in the resort hotels do not
require theme-park tickets.
Disney Character Dining SPECIALTY
( 407-939-3463; www.disneyworld.disney.go.com ; Walt Disney World theme parks & resort hotels;
per person $30-60)
Make reservations up to six months (yes, six!) for any of the almost 15 character-dining
meals at Disney World. These are not fine-dining experiences, nor are they intimate af-
fairs - they can be rather loud and chaotic. Characters rotate around the room, stopping
for a minute or so at each table to pose for a photograph and sign autographs.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort features a buffet breakfast with Winnie the Pooh, Mary
Poppins and Alice in Wonderland, as well as the Perfectly Princess Tea Party ; there's a
jam-packed breakfast and dinner with Goofy, Donald Duck and pals at Chef Mickey's in
Disney's Contemporary Resort ; princesses mingle in Epcot's Norway at the Akershus
Royal Banquet ; and the 100 Acre Wood folk come to Magic Kingdom's Crystal Palace
for three meals a day.
Character Spots ATTRACTION
( 407-939-4277; www.disneyworld.disney.go.com ; Walt Disney World theme parks; theme park ad-
mission required)
Each Walt Disney World theme park has specific spots where Disney characters hang out,
and you can simply hop in line (and wait and wait) to meet them and have your photo
taken. Some character spots, such as Enchanted Tales with Belle, include a short per-
formance. In addition, check your map and Times Guidefor times and locations of sched-
uled character greetings, and always keep your eyes open - you never know who you'll
see!
Lines at Animal Kingdom are usually shorter than at other parks, and many character
spots can be reserved in advance as a FastPass+ choice through My Disney Experience .
