CELEBRATION
Built by Disney from the swamps in 1994, tiny Celebration is small-town America like you
imagine it may have once been…before John Cheever, David Lynch and Desperate
Housewivesintroduced irony; before strip malls; before leaf blowers. We could wonder
what goes on behind closed doors, but why? Relax over coffee while the kids play in the
splash fountain and watch the ducks. Sure, maybe it doesn't sound that exciting, but
wasn't that day at Universal's Islands of Adventure exciting enough?
Celebration sits off Hwy 192, just east of I-4 and a few miles from Walt Disney World.
The main attraction is the small lake, which has a manicured promenade circling its
length and palm trees dotting the banks. The handful of pubs and restaurants in town, all
within walking distance of Hotel Celebration and many with sidewalk seating, serve up a
surprising variety of cuisine. It's a good spot to come if you're at Disney and want to eat
off-site.

Quiet and genteel, with what has to be the city's smallest pool perched on the patio next
to the lake, downtown Celebration's only hotel offers handsome rooms and an old-world
Key West sensibility. Perfect for anyone looking for something beyond the impersonality
of a large resort and the chaos of bars, nightly entertainment and programmed children's
activities, but close to Disney.
It's an easy drive to all the parks but feels years and miles away. There's no theme-park
shuttle. Wi-fi costs an additional $15 per day and there is limited free street parking.
