Fort Pierce Inlet State Recreation Area PARK
( www.floridastateparks.org/fortpierceinlet ; 905 Shorewinds Dr; per vehicle/bicycle $6/2;
8am-
sunset)
This 3400-acre park has everything you'd want in a waterfront recreation spot: sandy
shores, verdant trails, mangrove swamps with a beautiful bird population and a family-
friendly picnic area. It's also home to endangered beach stars, a low-lying sedge growing
on the dunes and near the boardwalks, so stick to the sand, Bigfoot.
Getting There & Around
From Stuart, take I-95 or US 1 (a gorgeous drive that's highly recommended as a trip in it-
self) about 25 miles north. To get downtown from I-95, take the Orange Ave exit east,
crossing US 1 (here called N 4th St).
