In-Depth Information
Get a real taste of the upper-crust Palm Beach lifestyle at the National Croquet Center, the
largest croquet facility in the world. Here, genteel sportspeople dressed in crisp whites hit
balls through wickets on 12 of the world's biggest, greenest, most manicured lawns. It's
members-only, but the public is invited to free lessons on Saturday mornings at 10am. The
pro shop, inside the plantation-style clubhouse, has all the latest in mallets and croquet
wear.
The center is about a 10-minute drive southwest of downtown West Palm.
Armory Art Center COURSE

When the Norton Museum of Art closed down their educational programs, the not-for-
profit Armory took over as the county's leading visual arts education and exhibition center.
In the process they saved the wonderful 1939 art deco Armory building, which was built
by architect William Manley King and occupied by the National Guard until 1989. With
more than a dozen state-of-the-art studios, the center now hosts more than a hundred adult
and youth courses in ceramics, jewelry, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and
sculpture.
Special events, lectures and rotating gallery exhibits also aim to educate and enrich.
From June to early August, the Armory hosts a Summer Art Camp for kids between the
ages of five and 17.
