Florida's most breathtaking scenery is underwater. The bowl of the peninsula's
spoon is edged by more coral reefs than anywhere else in North America, and
their quality and diversity rival Hawaii and the Caribbean. The prime protected
areas are Biscayne National Park, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and
Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary. Not only can you see the reefs and their
rainbow-hued denizens by glass-bottom boat, snorkeling and diving, you can
spend the night with the fishes (at John Pennekamp) if you just can't bear to sur-
face.
