In-Depth Information
Key Biscayne
Oasis
CUBAN
This excellent Cuban cafe has a customer base that ranges from the working poor to city
players, and the socioeconomic barriers come tumbling down fast as folks sip high-octane
Cuban coffee. Between the superstrong coffee and
masas de puerco
- marinated pork
chunks, which go great with hot sauce - we're in hole-in-the-wall heaven.
Boater's Grill
SEAFOOD
Located in Crandon Park, this waterfront restaurant (actually there's water below and all
around) feels like a Chesapeake Bay sea house from up north, except the menu is packed
with South Florida maritime goodness: stone crabs, mahimahi and lobster paella.
Rusty Pelican
SEAFOOD
305-361-3818; 3201 Rickenbacker Causeway; mains $18-42;
11am-11pm Sun-
Thu, to midnight Fri & Sat)
More than the fare itself, it's the panoramic skyline views - among the best in Miami -
that draw the faithful and romantic to this restaurant. But if you come for a sunset drink,
the fresh air could certainly seduce you into staying for some of the surf 'n' turf menu,
which is packed with high-end grilled steaks and seafood.
Little Havana
Exquisito Restaurant
CUBAN
For great Cuban cuisine in the heart of Little Havana, this place is exquisite (ha ha). The
roast pork has a tangy citrus kick and the
ropa vieja
(pulled braised brisket) is wonderfully
rich and filling. Even standard sides like beans and rice and roasted plantains are executed
with a little more care and tastiness. Prices are a steal, too.
