We love the idea at this place - pick out a few cheeses with the help of the staff and have
them assemble a platter for you with fresh bread, candied walnuts, cornichons or whatever
other accoutrement you so desire. There are also nice sandwiches, spreads and preserves,
but for our money you can't beat a perfect lunch here of fermented dairy goodness.

One of the best budget meals in the immediate Design District vicinity can be found at La
Latina, a Venezuelan diner that's popular with Midtown locals and artsy transplants to the
area. Cheese and avocado arepas are a treat for vegetarians, but there's a lot of meat, rice,
beans and sweet plantains filling out the menu.

Lemoni is as bright as its name suggests, a cute, cozy hole in the wall that serves up super-
lative sandwiches, wraps and salads. The salami sandwich with greens and olive oil is a
simple revelation, and we'd probably rob a bank to get another slice of its key lime pie.
Located in the pretty Buena Vista neighborhood, this is a perfect place to grab a sidewalk
alfresco lunch or dinner.

Back in the day, Puerto Ricans, not installation artists, ruled Wynwood. Have a taste of
those times in this perpetually packed roadhouse, where the Latin-diner ambience is as
strong as the steaming shots of
cortadito
(Cuban-style coffee) served at the counter. Bal-
ance the local gallery fluff with a steak-and-potato-stick sandwich.
